It is rare to find a ski resort that
is as steeped
in culture and tradition as is Courmayeur.
Courmayeur first gained a reputation in tourism as
early as the 17th century.
However, the origin of the village
dates back much further than that.
In fact, the first inns appeared as early as 1680. As it is situated on the
Italian/French border, French is widely spoken in Courmayeur, and there is a
local Patois version of the language as well.
As part of the Aosta Valley, Courmayeur lies in a part of Italy that is rich
in castles, historical sites, stunning mountain beauty, traditionally fine
Italian dining, and excellent shopping.
