Courmayeur from
Lago Checrouit
The
area indicated here is a crossroads of sorts for skiers called
Lago Checrouit. Skiers reach this point from two of the lifts from
Plan Checrouit or from the double Bertolini chair lift.
Should
you opt to ski the runs under or near this chair lift, what you
will see is not always what you get. As stand alone entries, they
are not overly challenging and most reasonably competent skiers
should enjoy them.
However,
that is when conditions are at their finest, which, as any
experienced skier already knows, is not often enough.
These
are very popular slopes; and they hold their snow quite well.
Therefore, it follows that they are often crowded with skiers who
are enjoying themselves so much that they are not looking. There
is also a smattering who should not be there in the first place.
So, watch out.
As
well, many people make for lots of bumps and quite funnily cut off
ones at that, if you get my meaning. Nevertheless, all that having
been said, the skiing here is so popular because it is so good, so
get out and enjoy it.
From
the bottom of this run it is also possible to cut through a narrow
wooded trail, which will hook you up to the Val Veny side of the
mountain and all its pleasures.
From
the top of this chair lift, you can also ski back down to Plan
Checrouit, or ski along the right hand side of the two poma lifts
you see on the map. A sharp left about half way down will lead you
to a fairly steep and challenging, but very pleasant run that will
eventually lead either to Bertolini or to the Val Veny side.
