Cross Country Skiing
Courmayeur, the famous Mont
Blanc ski resort is not just one
of the best winter destinations
in Italy for downhill skiers.
The resort has something of
beauty and surroundings for
cross country skiers as well. In
Val Ferret, just a few kms
(about 6) from the center of
Courmayeur lies one of the most
beautiful cross country areas in
all of the Alps. Stretching to
20km of sci di findo (thats
Italian folks) trails, the area
is suitable for all standards.
It is reached by bus or private
car. There is plenty of parking. |

Courmayeur: Youla and Arp
Just
riding the Arp cable car to this point is often enough of a treat
for Courmayeur visitors. From here at just under 3,000 meters is
some of the best scenery afforded anywhere. In
fact, all most people get to do from this starting point to the
famous Cresta D' Arp off piste run is sight see. As we outline in
our description of the Arp, all kinds of elements have to be in
line before skiers are allowed even to bring their skis up the
lift, let alone ski down the run. However, it is still worth the
cable car ride, even if the Arp is not open on that day. There
is also some other high mountain adventure skiing and ski touring
from this point, as well. However, as it is largely unfamiliar to
us (in fact to most people), we will err on the side of discretion
and refer you to a qualified mountain guide for advice. .,,

Courmayeur in summer
has just about every activity or sport one could imagine.
This of course does not include all of the beach holidays on offer
in the rest of the world. But, if you are looking for summer action,
Courmayeur on the Italian side of Mont Blanc or if you prefer, Monte
Bianco has a smorgasbord off offerings.

How to
get to Courmayeur |
| |
|
 |
|
Courmayeur, on the Italian side of the
Monte Bianco,
or Mont Blanc if you prefer, is a resort
that has grown in popularity with skiers from all over
the globe. It is indeed a truly international entity
with more languages being spoken here than at the U.N.
This, in this writer's humble opinion is one of the
reasons for its incredible popularity. People like to
mix and mingle, and they like to try to communicate in
different languages. It's like you have to be popular
with different nationalities to get more popular with
different nationalities. Somewhat of a reverse "catch
22" situation. On weekends, and during peak holiday
seasons, Courmayeur takes on a distinctly Italian
persona. During those select periods, the narrow streets
of this grand old village are alive with fur coats,
grand fashion, and the Italian greeting "Ciao Bella".

If you're looking for
something a little different than the average hotel,
consider timeshares for sale throughout Italy. Some, like the Palazzo
Catalani by Diamond Resorts International, can boast a rich and regal
past dating back to the 17th century. Experience Roma like
royalty. Or, stay in
a countryside estate in your own cottage. There are timeshare
for every taste and temperament.

Courmayeur
Golf
The Golf Club Courmayeur and Grandes Jorasses to give it its
full name is a stunning little entry.
The course is stunning because it is located in the Val

and under Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain.

Dolonne, Courmayeur's beautiful,
quiet location
Dolonne is just scant minutes from
central Courmayeur as the car drives. However it has a
character and atmosphere of its own. Dolonne, probably
less than a kilometer from Courmayeur center has
a tremendous "away from it all" atmosphere.,
