Courmayeur
summer overview
Now here’s something I simply cannot figure
out. Why Courmayeur is not
the most ravingly popular summer destination in the Alps.
Sure the Mont Blanc resort is full during July
and August,
but who in Italy isn’t?

Courmayeur in summer
has just about every activity or sport one could imagine.
This of course does not include all of the beach holidays on
offer in the rest of the world. But, if you are looking for
summer action, Courmayeur on the Italian side of Mont Blanc
or if you prefer, Monte Bianco has a smorgasbord off
offerings.

Courmayeur, on the
Italian side of the Monte Bianco,
or Mont Blanc if you prefer, is a resort
that has grown
in popularity with skiers from all over the globe.
It is indeed a truly international entity with more languages being spoken here than
at the U.N. This, in this writer's humble opinion is one of the
reasons for its incredible popularity.

Courmayeur
Golf
The Golf Club Courmayeur and Grandes Jorasses to give it its full name is
a stunning little entry. The
course is stunning because it is located in the Val Ferret
and under Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain.

Courmayeur shopping
Shopping in Courmayeur has
got a heck of a lot on
offer too. Besides the normal souvenir offerings, there’s an
abundance of high-fashion shops that will have you foaming at the
mouth. Naturally there are sport shops and many reasonably-priced
shirts and socks outlets on offer as well. |
Mountain Refuge near Courmayeur just reopened for summer
Recently I had
the opportunity to visit one of my favorite places, Courmayeur,
Mont Blanc, Italy. I stay often at the Hotel Berthod and with my
mixture of work and play it is indeed a pleasurable time. This
time, Alessio, who with his family owns the Berthod told me
about a refugio (mountain refuge hut) that his wife opened very
recently. The location is in the Grand St Bernard mountain
range, above the village of Gignod in the Aosta Valley.

Courmayeur, on the Italian side of the

that has grown in popularity with skiers
from all over the globe. It is indeed a truly international entity with more languages being spoken here than at the U.N. This, in this writer's humble opinion is one of the reasons for its incredible popularity. People like to mix and mingle, and they like to try to communicate in different languages. It's like you have to be popular with different nationalities to get more popular with different nationalities. Somewhat of a reverse "catch 22" situation. On weekends, and during peak holiday seasons, Courmayeur takes on a distinctly Italian persona. During those select
periods, the narrow streets of this grand old village are alive with fur
coats, grand fashion, and the Italian greeting "Ciao Bella". All of this
is made more noticeable; because Courmayeur, located as it is snuggled
right up to and separated from France only by Mont Blanc, does not
normally , at least among its indigenous folk, boast a typical Italian
persona. Valdostana, we believe is a more accurate term.
